English-Speaking Hair Salon in Seoul | Eco Jardin Cheonho

Yes — you can have a cut, colour or head spa in Seoul without speaking Korean. Eco Jardin Cheonho has two designers who consult in English, Japanese and Chinese: Salon Director Alexander and Executive Designer Sang Ok. Tell us which language you would like to use when you book, and we will put you with a designer who can look after you in it, so you can explain the hair you want and have your service done without any Korean at all.

Alexander, Salon Director — colour, cutting and the scalp, looked at together

“Colour, from someone who teaches colour.” Alexander trained in colour with L'Oreal, WELLA and Kerastase, and now teaches cutting and colour at the Department of Beauty Arts at Seokyeong University and at the L'Oreal Design Center. The credentials in full:

Sang Ok, Executive Designer — tailored consulting

“You can explain the hair you want — in English, Japanese or Chinese.” Sang Ok looks after guests from abroad at Eco Jardin on the 9th floor of Hyundai Department Store Cheonho. Tailored consulting is Sang Ok's speciality: the conversation starts with the style you have in mind and how you usually look after your hair day to day, and only then is the direction of the service decided. How to get across the hair you want when language is a barrier

What the salon suggests is refreshingly simple.

• Bring photos. Even one or two pictures of a style make it far easier for your designer to see where you want to go.
• Photos of celebrities are fine too. An exact copy may not always be possible, so the designer works towards capturing the feel of the look instead.
• “Just do what you think is best” works as well, but please give a direction along with it. Something like “a calm look”, “a brighter look” or “nothing too short” is plenty.
• If you would rather have your service in peace and quiet, feel free to say so beforehand.

What is checked before your service

At Eco Jardin, the condition of your hair is checked before anything else. The service agreed in the consultation is the one that goes ahead, and no extra care or add-on options are added part-way through without your consent. If something is needed because of your hair length or condition, it will be explained to you in advance. Prices vary with your designer and the condition of your hair, and you will be told at the consultation.

There is no need to wash your hair before you come. A shampoo is included before the service, and on a colour day it is actually better to leave a little natural oil on the scalp, as it helps protect it. A T-shirt or a shirt is more comfortable to have your hair done in than a hoodie or a high-necked top.
